About

Hello and welcome to Peace of Mind Therapy Services.
My name is Stephanie Lewis, owner and therapist.  Using a combination of clinical approaches, real life experience, and a relaxed, welcoming approach, I have created my practice to provide warm, supportive, and effective mental health services to clients, families and groups of all ages.

My career began as a Montessori teacher, where I discovered a passion for child development, and the importance of sensory based learning. Upon completing my BA in Psychology, I began working in the residential program at an Accredited Children’s Mental Health Agency. I then moved to the Central Intake Department, and six years later, I began providing individual, small group and classroom group mental health support in nine elementary schools in South Simcoe County. I completed my Masters in Psychology specializing in Child and Adolescent Development in February of 2017, and opened my private practice. At this time, I accepted a contract with Workplace Options (EAP), and began to see an increasing number of adult clients. The dramatic changes that 2020 brought had a tremendous impact on my practice. The strain of the past few months has generated a greater demand to provide services for adult client's as well as children and youth, therefore broadening the scope of my services. I enjoy participating in speaking engagements and presentations for schools, businesses and various groups. I am also privileged to be contracted to provide mental health services to South Simcoe business owners and their family members through the Nottawasauga Futures Professional Consulting Program.

How Can I Help?

I am trained in a number of evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches, however, the primary modality I offer my clients is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. With an emphasis on recognizing physiological cues, emotions, and most importantly, the thoughts and narratives we experience when we’re afraid, clients learn to balance thinking while using realistic, practical strategies to help manage a range of challenging emotions. The primary concern experienced by the majority of my clients is anxiety. Other examples of challenges we address are low mood, stress, physical distress/illness, regulation of attention (ADD/ADHD), trauma, school difficulties, lagging social skills, behavioral concerns, psychoeducation / consultation and parent support.

It is my goal to offer clinical services in a real-life, relatable way, helping client's to feel at ease with the process. It takes a lot of courage to speak with a therapist and it is my priority to do everything I can to make the experience something that client's look forward to.
